The Government of Barbados through the Telecommunications Unit, Division of Energy and Telecommunications will host the weeklong Regional Workshop and Frequency Coordination Meeting on Transition to Digital Terrestrial Television and the Digital Dividend at the Savannah Beach Hotel from Monday 21st May 2012 to Friday 25th.
The Workshop/Meeting will be held under the auspices of the ITU (International Telecommunications Union), CTU (Caribbean Telecommunications Union) and the CBU (Caribbean Broadcasting Union).
In the archipelago of the Caribbean, it is critically important that our sovereign countries collaborate and not only share experiences on the issues of frequency coordination, but also learn from those countries which have already implemented the new technologies to be deployed in the Digital Terrestrial Television.
Participating countries may also benefit from economy of scale by standardising equipment. They may also avoid many of the pitfalls of the earlier implementers.
The ITU has therefore engaged a cadre of experts in the various fields to ensure that the Workshop/Meeting would be a success.
Target Audience
The Conference is geared to Regulators, Broadcasters, Mobile Operators, ICT Professionals etc. It is vitally important that persons involved with the transition to Digital Terrestrial Television attend. If you have not as yet responded to the invitation from the Chief Telecommunications Officer, you may contact his office at 434 2502 to register your attendance.

The public is hereby notified that all Barbados country code Top Level Domain Names (ccTLD) ".bb" without a valid Domain Name Registration Licence issued by the Telecommunications Unit will be deleted from the telecommunications Unit Domain Name System (DNS) Servers effective 31st March 2011.
Persons who use ccTLD ".bb" for websites/emails and are not holders of the aforementioned licence should immediately contact the Telecommunications Unit Licensing Office via phone at 434 2510 Ext 2580, 2577 or email –

to make an application for the licence.
Applications forms may also be downloaded from the Unit's website at www.telecoms.gov.bb.

Barbados signs Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT) Agreement with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) at a meeting held at the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Chief Telecommunications Officer of Barbados, Mr Reginald Bourne (left) and the Director of ITU's Telecommunications Development Bureau, Mr Brahima Sanou (right), are congratulated by the Secretary General of the CTU, Ms Bernadette Lewis after the signing of the CIRT Agrreement.
Government Notice - 2019 Licences
The following types of licences are renewable in January 2019 as they will expire on December 31, 2018
Licensees have until January 30, 2019 to renew their licences.
From January 31, 2019 to March 31, 2019 these licences may be renewed but a 25% late payment fee will be payable.
From April 01, 2019, unpaid licences may be revoked by the Minister responsible for Telecommunications:
1. Sellers and Dealers;
2. Citizen Band Operators;
3. Amateur Radio Operators;
4. Model Equipment Owners;
5. General Radio Communications;
6. Fishing Vessels and all other Ship Stations;
7. Coast Stations;
